Ian Millar

Olympic Show Jumper and Chef d'Équipe

Ian Millar, one of Canada’s most accomplished Olympic show jumping riders, has shaped the sport for over five decades. Known worldwide as “Captain Canada,” he represented Canada at a record 10 Olympic Games and built a legacy of excellence at the highest levels of international competition.

What He’s Doing Today

While Ian retired from international competition, he remains a central figure in Canadian equestrian sport. He now serves as Chef d’Équipe and Technical Advisor for the Canadian Show Jumping Team, guiding athletes on the world stage and helping develop Canada’s next generation of championship riders.

From Millar Brooke Farm in Ontario, Ian continues to:

  • Mentor high-performance riders

  • Develop elite show jumping horses

  • Support Team Canada at major international events

  • Contribute to the long-term success of Canadian show jumping

His focus today is longevity, soundness, and sustainable performance — for both horse and rider.

Why Back on Track

At the elite level, preparation and recovery are not optional — they are part of the program.

Back on Track’s far infrared technology supports:

  • Healthy circulation

  • Muscle comfort and relaxation

  • Effective warm-up

  • Post-performance recovery

For riders competing at Spruce Meadows, Nations Cups, and Olympic-level events, maintaining suppleness and durability is essential.

Ian’s career has been defined by longevity and horsemanship — values that align directly with Back on Track’s mission to help horses and riders prepare, perform, and recover naturally.

We are proud to support a leader who continues to shape Canadian show jumping — not just through medals, but through mentorship, integrity, and excellence.
