Based in Alberta, Dustin has spent more than two decades training and competing at the highest levels of cutting horse competition across Canada and the United States. His approach blends ranch-raised practicality with elite-level performance, developing athletic, confident horses capable of excelling in futurities, derbies, and major open events.

A Career of Championship Performance

Over the course of his career, Dustin Gonnet has earned more than $2 million in lifetime competition earnings, becoming the first Canadian-based cutting horse trainer to surpass that milestone. This achievement places him among the top professionals in North American cutting horse sport.

At the Calgary Stampede Cutting Horse Futurity, Dustin captured both the Futurity Open Championship and the Derby Open Championship in the same year — a rare accomplishment that solidified his position among Canada’s elite trainers.

In recognition of his impact on the sport, Dustin has been inducted into the Canadian Cutting Horse Association (CCHA) Hall of Fame, honoring his contributions to competitive cutting and horsemanship in Canada.

While cutting remains his primary focus, Dustin also stays active within the broader rodeo community, including stepping in to perform pickup duties at professional rodeo events. His versatility in both the cutting pen and the rodeo arena reflects the depth of his horsemanship.
